Un libro sul ritorno del lupo in Italia, tra immagini, parole, scienza ed emozioni.
Storie di Lupi è un progetto editoriale unico che unisce immagini, narrazione e divulgazione scientifica per raccontare la coesistenza tra uomo e lupo in Italia.
Frutto di oltre dieci anni di ricerca e appostamenti sul campo, Storie di Lupi nasce dal desiderio di raccontare non solo il ritorno del lupo in Italia, ma soprattutto la complessità della sua coesistenza con l’uomo. Il progetto unisce linguaggi e strumenti diversi: fotografia, illustrazione, racconto, ricerca scientifica e comunicazione digitale, per costruire un dialogo contemporaneo tra arte e conservazione della natura.
Il volume si compone di due opere complementari: un libro fotografico con oltre 160 immagini a colori, che documentano il comportamento, l’habitat e la presenza del lupo lungo la Penisola, dalle Alpi al Mediterraneo e un racconto illustrato, La valle dei lupi, che intreccia la voce dell’autore a quella del giovane protagonista in un viaggio di scoperta e consapevolezza per una migliore coesistenza tra uomini e lupi. Allegato, un ulteriore opuscolo tecnico illustrato, con biologia, status e conservazione del lupo italico, accompagnate da linee guida per una corretta convivenza e consigli pratici da attuare sul campo.
La forza del progetto sta nel suo approccio multidisciplinare: ricerca naturalistica, narrazione poetica e fotografia diventano strumenti di conoscenza e sensibilizzazione. Non solo un libro, ma un ecosistema culturale che si estende attraverso il sito web www.storiedilupi.com, i contenuti multimediali, un blog di approfondimento e una rete di eventi e incontri in tutta Italia. L’obiettivo è quello di educare alla convivenza, trasformando la paura in rispetto e la distanza in dialogo.
Tra i testi e le fotografie si intrecciano riflessioni ecologiche, aneddoti di campo e citazioni che restituiscono il senso di un rapporto antico e fragile: quello tra l’uomo e il lupo, tra la conoscenza e il mistero. Il risultato è un racconto visivo e letterario che parla al cuore e alla mente, invitando a riconoscere nel lupo non una minaccia, ma qualcosa da scoprire, conoscere e tutelare.
Accanto alle realtà editoriali e divulgative, il progetto coinvolge ricercatori, fotografi, associazioni ambientaliste, enti locali e aree protette in un percorso condiviso di educazione ambientale e sensibilizzazione sociale. L’iniziativa é promossa dall’Associazione Obiettivo Mediterraneo in collaborazione con Io non ho paura del lupo, WildITA, The European Nature Trust, LIPU, Salviamo l’Orso, Ecomuseo di Argil, Club Alpino Italiano, Lupotrek e ANBA.
Parte dei proventi del volume sarà devoluta all’associazione Io non ho paura del lupo, attiva nella conservazione e tutela del lupo sul territorio italiano, a testimonianza di un impegno concreto che migliori la coesistenza tra attività umane e predatori.

Stories of Wolves
Stories of Wolves is a unique editorial project that combines imagery, storytelling, and scientific communication to explore the coexistence between humans and wolves in Italy.
The result of more than ten years of research and fieldwork, Stories of Wolves was born from the desire to tell not only the story of the wolf’s return to Italy, but above all the complexity of its coexistence with humans. The project blends different languages and tools — photography, illustration, storytelling, scientific research, and digital communication — to create a contemporary dialogue between art and nature conservation.
The publication consists of two complementary works:
a photographic book with over 160 color images documenting the wolf’s behavior, habitat, and presence across the Italian Peninsula, from the Alps to the Mediterranean; and an illustrated story, The Valley of the Wolves, which intertwines the author’s voice with that of a young protagonist on a journey of discovery and awareness toward better coexistence between people and wolves.
Attached is an additional illustrated technical booklet featuring information on the biology, status, and conservation of the Italian wolf, along with practical field guidelines for respectful coexistence.
The strength of the project lies in its multidisciplinary approach: naturalistic research, poetic narration, and photography become tools for understanding and raising awareness. It is not just a book, but a cultural ecosystem that extends through the website www.storiedilupi.com, multimedia content, an in-depth blog, and a network of events and talks across Italy. The goal is to foster coexistence — transforming fear into respect and distance into dialogue.
Through its texts and images, the project weaves together ecological reflections, field anecdotes, and quotations that evoke the fragile and ancient bond between humans and wolves, between knowledge and mystery. The result is a visual and literary narrative that speaks to both heart and mind, inviting readers to see the wolf not as a threat, but as something to discover, understand, and protect.
Alongside its editorial and educational dimensions, the project involves researchers, photographers, environmental associations, local authorities, and protected areas in a shared path of environmental education and social engagement.
The initiative is promoted by Associazione Obiettivo Mediterraneo, in collaboration with Io non ho paura del lupo, WildITA, The European Nature Trust, LIPU, Salviamo l’Orso, Ecomuseo di Argil, Club Alpino Italiano, Lupotrek, and ANBA.
Part of the book’s proceeds will be donated to Io non ho paura del lupo, an association dedicated to the conservation and protection of wolves in Italy — a concrete commitment to improving coexistence between human activities and large predators.
